The Unity of Autobiographical temporality of the Narrative Self in Contemporary Psychology and Neuroscience: A philosophical Study
    (2018) Ogunyemi, Omowumi Omoyemi
This work explores the role of an Aristotelian-Thomistic narrative philosophy for a better understanding of human life and the quest for meaning carried out over time. It explores the significance of a narrative structure of human life for self-understanding (Anthropology and epistemology), for guiding our actions towards the Good (ethical aspect) and thus for a better understanding of human beings and actions. The narrative unity of human life when understood and applied in the first person perspective can help the human subject to direct the self towards the Ultimate Good proper to human nature. That Ultimate Good is a guide for individual actions within the quest for meaning. The work’s approach is an interdisciplinary one, bringing together ideas from philosophy, psychology and neuroscience and with an openness to transcendence and thus to theology.
